Yes. Taking the east path would just take us down in the direction of the other 3 starting cities. We obviously do not want to do that.

How long should we rest (in days)? It is July 21st, and we've still got roughly a month and a half of travel ahead of us. I'm no good at estimates so I might be off, though.

We rest for 3 days and continue. The next week is uneventful and there is good weather, so we manage to travel over 100 miles without fail.
