Let's Play Oregon Trail II
Yeahhhh let's do it
I'll be posting screenshots of our progress and asking you guys what we should do at various points. All characters are named after all of our current members except for me.
- Spoiler:
We're playing on adventurer because >greenhorn is for pussies, and trail guide instakills you if morale is too low.
I've set everyone's age to their actual age except for prinners, because I don't know what his is and we need someone really old to balance out all the young'ins
Let's start off now: What Month/Year should we start in? Months are as listed in the below image, years range from 1840 - 1860

I'll just do this so we can maybe speed along the starting crapMoe wrote:May 1855
Now, where should we set off from, and where should our destination be?
We can start from: Independence, St. Joseph, Nauvoo, or Council Bluffs.
We can go to: Oregon City, Sacramento, Great Salk Lake City, or Jacksonville.
Also we're taking the Large Farmwagon. The Small Farmwagon won't hold 6 peoples' shit and the Conestoga Wagon breaks every time a light breeze hits it.

This works. It's the furthest east starting spot to the furthest east end spot. It still works out to be a shorter than average trip but that's fine.ChocolateMoose wrote:Start at Nauvoo, Going to Great salk lake city.
Now the big one: Our Occupation. This decides our starting money, our score multiplier, and sometimes provides bonus skills. Here's the list:
this shit will probably end badly if you pick anything under baker

Well, unfortunately age 75 isn't available. We'll have to settle for 65.prinner wrote:off by 30 years there
Alright, that's set. All we have left are skills. As is described in the below image, we have 120 points to spend on skills. Any skill points we don't use add to our score. Most of the skills are self-descriptive by name alone so i'm not going to type out what they all do.ChocolateMoose wrote:prospector

Gotta keep things moving along here. I'll take those two and throw on Medical, Botany, and Commerce/Trade so we can find, smoke, and distribute marijuana. For medicinal purposes. Also because they're the best 3 skills in the game.
Since the vendor menus have so much shit on them, i'll be doing all the shopping. And since i'm doing all the shopping, i'm going to buy a 6-month premade package and add extra stuff on top of it.
The biggest items on my shopping list:
750 pounds of bacon, on top of the 510 provided. This shit never goes bad and is super cheap, and with 1260 pounds we can use it as toilet paper and still have enough to eat.
40 bullets. We start with 60 so that puts us at 100. We also already start with a rifle and 2 kegs of gunpowder.
a Rifle Sheathe, so moe doesn't fucking shoot herself on accident when hunting. It's an instant game-over if she dies.
25 hats. This cost me a fortune, don't lose them.
12 oxen. Oxen are god-tier animals, and I hope that 12 will be enough to haul our 6000 pounds of shit.
19 gallons of whiskey. Back in 1855, we're all old enough! Drink up!
And a load of useful medicines. We'll be able to cure anything short of AIDS.
This leaves us with 77 bucks. Better to spend it all when things are cheap; prices just get worse out west.
Our last choice before we hit the trail! Which train are we joining up with? Trains with more people tend to be shittier, but i'll leave it up to you guys.

Oh i'm supposed to be doing this aren't I? Fucking procrastination.
High priority on my to-do list, i'll get going tomorrow for sure.
In the meantime, have a .gif of Ace Rimmer riding an alligator to a safe landing, courtesy of Chocolate Moose.

Off we go!
We immediately hit a river, but there's a free ferry.
10 days and one pointlessly-early waystation later, we reach another goddamn river. It also has a ferry - for another 10 bucks. This one is much smaller and safer, but it's still raining.

Rain clears up after 4 days. We caulk the wagons and float across safely.Moe wrote:I'd say wait for the rain to stop and then try and cross

Yes, it does. I'll also slow us down to 8 hours a day until he recovers as going fast makes it harder to recover.Moe wrote:Peppermint cures everything

Okay actually I forgot that indian towns have nothing of interest; just this one bitch who wants to trade.
DFAKJSDFOIJAWEKERJAISDJF IT'S THE END OF THE WO-Severe Thunderstorm ahead. The sound effect for this event is very loud and scares the shit out of me.
We've made it to our first milestone: Council Bluffs.
Just a day out of Council Bluffs is the Missouri River, and we gotta cross it.

Bitches located.
I personally agree with this bitch and think we should stop fucking around here.
Or, if we disagree with the bitch and love wasting time, there are a couple stores around, and some more people to talk to (spoiler alert: nobody every has anything interesting to say)
